What’s in an email address?
Job seekers – have you ever thought about the impression that your email address gives when sending your CV through to potential employers?
This is probably an over looked item by most job seekers, but as they say, first impressions count – and last!
If a potential employer receives and email from joe.bloggs@hotmail.com and one from goodnightout536@hotmail.com, which one do you think would make the better impression? Yes - the first one.
Our top tip for today’s jobseekers would be to create yourself an email account dedicated to your job seeking practices. Make the email your name and not what you like to do in your spare time – you want to give a good first impression after all!
There are plenty of free email sites out there, so if you can’t find your name on one, try another site – they all let you see if your preferred name is free.
Remember to update your CV with this new email address and send out your CV from it as well.
Happy job hunting!
